Avery loved going to preschool this year. It was the first time she has gone to a "school setting" rather than an "in-home" environment. She loved playing, learning the sign language, and she can sing you songs about the planets, growing seeds, and met-a-morph-i-sis. But besides her love for being First Mate, playing with Nate (cute little boy in class), and the playground, her biggest LOVE was for her teacher, Ms Jen. We would often be headed to a park or a store in town and Avery would mention, "Do you think we will run into Ms Jen?" Imagine her delight when we did see Ms Jen at a soccer game once during the year. :) She often told me that she wished she lived with Ms Jen... I tried not to take it personally.
Mother's Tea:
The kids put a lot of effort into a special Mother's Day event. They sang songs, served us snacks, and had little gifts for us. Avery was shy, but you could tell she was proud of her work. The cutest part was that we were told we had to "dress up". Avery's little friend, Caleb, told his Mom that she had to be fancy. He suggested that she wear her wedding dress to the tea! Kids are so funny.

Preschool Graduation:
We went camping at the Ocean during the first week of June. We ended up coming back just in time (literally) for Avery's graduation. We knew that it would be close, but the traffic was so bad on our 4 hour drive that I had Avery change her clothes in the car - with her seat belt on. We arrived only 5 minutes late and were not the very last to arrive.
The students were each recognized for a special quality about themselves. Avery's teacher said that she had "never seen such effort and attention paid to the details of a project as Avery does. Watch out, Martha Stewart." :)
After the short ceremony, they had juice and cookies. It was fun to celebrate with Avery's friends and their parents.

Last Day of School:
Avery's last day of preschool did not go as planned. Owen and Jason had come down with the flu earlier in the week. Addison and I both began throwing up the morning of Avery's last day. The poor girl was the only one left standing. I sent her with a camera and asked my good friend, Becky to snap some pictures for me. Avery had a fun last day, complete with face painting and bouncy toys, and then came home to a house filled with sleeping people. I'm glad she had such a fun year!
