HIKE
Last Saturday we headed out to hike a local trail that leads to a set of waterfalls. The path was crazy busy...it felt more like we were at the local zoo, rather than a secluded nature hike. It was a total of 3 miles, and Avery walked the ENTIRE trail. She didn't slow us down at all. Other hikers were commenting on how exuberantly she was walking along. We did have to stop for multiple water breaks, but we were amazed at her energy! We brought a few snacks, and I was pleased to catch a few pics in the sunshine. We played in the water and admired spiderwebs. Avery pointed out our own Northwest version of "palm trees" = ferns. It's amusing what connections kids will make. It was a great afternoon. The only problem is that we could feel ourselves being tricked into thinking it is spring! We are so looking forward to getting out there again, but it will probably be awhile before we are able to. We'll take it while we can!

Walk in the Woods
We are also really lucky to live in an area with miles and miles of trails out our front door! Avery and I decided that we wanted to go for a walk through the forest last week. We called up some friends and headed out for a quick jaunt through the woods. Avery was on the lookout for deer, but the closest thing we found was a random dog that wandered away from his owner. The kids had a fun time! The hardest part is always the last stretch. Our trail ended on a nearby road, so we walked up the sidewalk back to our starting point. They were pretty worn out by the time we made it back to the picnic table... Owen couldn't keep his eyes open any longer.

We love the Park!
Nothing beats a fun, sunny day at the park! Last week we headed out for our first trip of the season. My friend Karen came along and we tried to get a few pictures of the kids playing. Avery moves so fast, and Owen did not like the sun in his eyes. The poor kid hasn't seen too much of it in his short life. :) Avery had a great time playing on the slides and drawing in the baseball field. Thanks for the fun morning, Dear Park! We will be back!

We did have beautiful weather, didn't we? You really took advantage of it! Avery was a real trooper - she's got some energy! Beautiful pictures, we live in such a beautiful part of the country!
Beautiful pictures. I have to ask though- where did you go to see the waterfalls?
Our tulips and daffodils are starting to poke through the ground, but definitely no blooming here.
Great pictures lady. You really made the most of the beautiful weather. It was a nice treat for sure.
Cute cute Wendy!!
Your pictures are looking great. Those on the day of your trip to the falls turned out especially great--you'll have to teach me your tricks. Your cake was also incredible. Nice work!
