Avery turns 3!

At the beginning of September, Avery turned 3 years old. Her birthday was on a Saturday, so to celebrate we went to the circus! We kept it a secret until we got there. We weren't doing her party until the next day, so she was slightly confused. She kept saying that she wanted to go to her birthday. I tried to explain that her birthday was a time, not a destination. A little too advanced for a 3 year old. :)
The circus program was awesome. There was a ton of singing, dancing, acrobatics and, of course, animals. That was Avery's favorite part. She loved the elephants and horses. Her least favorite part was the woman being shot out of a cannon. She informed us that she wanted to go home after that event, but we coaxed her into staying with a healthy bit of cotton candy. We had a great time.

Cotton Candy makes everything more fun!On Sunday, we had a family party to celebrate her birthday. We had planned to hold it at a park, but - wouldn't you know - the one weekend of the entire summer that it rains in Seattle happened to fall on Labor Day weekend this year. As we stared at the monsoon pouring down outside, we opted to hold the party indoors instead. There was tasty food, a yummy cake, and Avery received quite a load of presents. What more could a little girl ask for? She was pretty pleased.

A princess drawing book!!
Avery really wanted flower hairclips (just like her cousin Moo Moo's). She loved the clips, but obviously did not enjoy having to model the gift.

Fun! We took Sam to the circus last year for her birthday. I loved it! I'm a big circus fan. Sad about all the rain, but at least you had a back-up plan. Loved the cake! Very cute :) Happy(late) birthday, Avery!
Wow! The real circus even. What a treat for little Avery. My kids only know the Shrine circus. Nice job on the cake too. Let's keep our fingers crossed for this three year old stuff! =)
